The SyncInjector for Canopy receives GPS timing information from a SyncPipe and provides sync and power for up to four canopy radios. The timing output is fully compatible with Motorola Canopy Access Points and Backhaul radios which are capable of receiving sync via the power port.
If you are familiar with our older SyncInjector, we have made a few changes. The newer unit has improved short circuit protection to prevent shorted cables from causing power supply failures. In addition, we have added significant power supply filtering and ESD protection. Finally, we have reduced the power consumption of this device by approximately 1.2W, so that the SyncInjector itself consumes almost no power.
There are quite a few ports on this new SyncInjector:
1) A bank of 8 RJ45s. Four of these RJ45's provide power and sync to the attached radios. The other four RJ45's are intended to connect to a ethernet switch or other ethernet device to provide data connectivity to the corresponding radio. Due to the design of the Canopy radios, most radios which do not require sync can also be powered by this device and will simply ignore the sync. Think of it like four canopy power supplies with sync added.
2) A RJ45 to receive sync from a SyncPipe or another SyncInjector's Daisy Chain Output port. (And of course, this unit has the Daisy Chain Output port).
The pinout of the syncpipe port has changed slightly from earlier versions of the SyncInjector. Please refer to our system guide to determine the correct wiring if you use this with an existing SyncPipe.
3) A 2.1mm jack to attach the included 24VDC power supply which provides power to the SyncInjector, an attached SyncPipe, and all attached Radios.
4) A 3.5mm jack which when coupled with an optional serial cable, can be used by most laptops to view the data being received from the SyncPipe to verify a good GPS lock. The utility to view the data in a human readable format is available for free download.
There are, in addition, two mounting keyholes on the bottom of the unit which assists in wall mounting of this unit.
Note: This is a basic syncronization device. It produces reliable, consistant, GPS-synchronized timing for the radio(s) attached to it. It does not, however, provide any management capabilities as delivered or populate the GPS Status screen on the AP's attached to it. The previously mentioned serial port can be used with an optional serial cable to monitor the GPS status locally via most serial ports.
This product includes the SyncInjector (pictured) and a power supply. A SyncPipe is NOT included in the above price. You will need to order it separately.
Note: These units are assembled on an ongoing basis and in quantities based on typical demand. Our goal is to have these always in stock, but demand sometimes prevents that from occuring. We continually update the "Units Ready to Ship" figure above with the quantity which are boxed and ready to ship to our customers. Additional units are always in the pipeline, and backorders typically ship within a 10-14 days.
